Lohri & Pongal Celebration – 13th January 2013

Lohri  & Pongal celebrations were held with much gaiety & fun to allow the children an experience of different festivals  and also keeping the sentiments of the sizeable number of Tamil children who study at the centre.

Another motto to celebrate this festival was to give a little knowledge regarding agriculture which is an important aspect of our country to the Children. Our Managing Trustee was also present on the occasion to share the knowledge about types of Farming i.e, seasonal farming, cutting of crops, etc, besides another very most important reason to understand as to “Why we celebrate Lohri”.

The conclusion of this session was followed by traditional Lohri celebrations at the grounds by putting the woods to fire. Everyone encircled around the bonfire and danced on Lohri songs, Giddas and Punjabi numbers. Every child was seen to be having fun with all the activities and enjoying this festival. The celebrations ended with the distribution of Popcorns and Peanuts.
