Republic Day Celebration – 26th January 2013

The Republic day was celebrated with patriotic fervor and pride at Basti Vikas Kendra. The Chief Guest was Mrs Vandana Bhan from LSR College.  The children prepared a collage of India’s freedom fighters and also presented a program of related song and dance, speaking about the struggle for independence.

The students of Prajna Foundation worked together to put up a spectacular show to celebrate the love and patriotism for their country on Republic Day.

Collectively, we started out the event by paying homage to all the fearless heroes of the nation followed by a prayer for a secure, prosperous and corrupt-free nation.

The Chief Guest, Mrs. Vandana S. Bhan of Lady Shri Ram College for Women hoisted the flag and led the crowd to sing the national anthem. Her inspirational speech made adults introspect and question their duties towards the country and instilled important moral values in the students.

The students were quizzed about the relevance of 26th January and all answered absolutely correct. Few bright students like Jaya, Deepa, Archana, Kokila, S.Sangeetha etc. answered these questions in detail sharing some historical facts with all of us in English, Hindi and Tamil respectively.

The cultural show was organized by LSR volunteers, guest teachers from different schools and Prajna staff. They orchestrated a choir to sing a medley of ‘desh-bhakti’ songs, followed by a number of graceful dance performances and some stage plays. All the dances were choreographed by volunteers. It was much-appreciated

The crowd dispersed with each one buzzing with patriotism. Each being a proud Indian. Jai hind!!
